Major General Lal Chandrasiri of the Gemunu Watch assumed office as the 20th Director General Infantry at the Directorate of Infantry at the Army Headquarters on Tuesday (5) during a brief ceremony.
After brief religious observances, the newly-appointed Director General Infantry left his signature in an official document, signifying the acceptance of his new office.
Prior to this new appointment, he served as the General Officer Commanding of the 54 Division. Staff Officers of the Directorate and Other Ranks joined the occasion. He succeeds Major General Indrajith Bandara who has just retired from the Army.
