New DA in US Embassy Extends Courtesies

Lieutenant Colonel Anthony C. Nelson of the US Army, the recently-appointed Defence Attaché in the USA Embassy in Colombo this morning (27) after being appointed to Sri Lanka, extended courtesies to the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage at the Army Headquarters

During the interactive meeting that ensued, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage shared a couple of thoughts with the new Defence Attaché where both of them recalled bonds of goodwill, cooperation and understanding that prevail between armed forces of both countries.

They also discussed possibilities of further enhancing training programmes for Sri Lankan Army personnel as well as different exchange programmes and other general matters of concern.

Towards the end of the cordial meeting, Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, symbolized the goodwill by presenting souvenirs to the new Defence Attaché and other accompanying officials in the US Embassy. The gestures were reciprocated.

Mr Seth Nevins, Assistant Defence Attaché in the US Embassy and another representative, together with Major General Swarna Bothota, Military Secretary were associated with the day’s meeting.
