New Commander SF-East Visits Troops in the 22 Infantry Division

The newly-appointed Commander Security Forces-East (SF-E), Major General M.K.U.P Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG, made his first field visit to the 22 Infantry Division in Trincomalee and its under command Infantry Brigades during 31 August-01 September 2023.

Accordingly, on 31 August 2023 at first, he visited the 22 Infantry Division Headquarters. Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division warmly welcomed the visiting Commander Security Forces-East (SF-E), after he was saluted in a Guard Turnout at the entrance, presented by 5 (V) Sri Lanka Artillery troops.

Afterwards, he posed for a group photograph with the divisional staff and attended a briefing conducted by the General Officer Commanding on the role, tasks, and responsibilities of the Division. Subsequently, he addressed 22 Infantry Division troops before he planted a mango sapling in the compound before he joined an All Rank tea where he interacted with the troops of the Division.

Later, the Commander Security Forces-East (SF-E) visited the 221 Infantry Brigade and 2 (V) Gajaba Regiment on the same day. Brigade Commander and Commanding Officer warmly welcomed the Eastern Commander to their establishments according to military traditions.

Starting the second day of the visit, on 01 September 2023, the Commander Security Forces-East (SF-E) interacted with the District Secretary for Trincomalee, Mr Chaminda Hettiarachchi and the Chief Secretary Mr. R.M.P.S Rathnayake. Also, the Commander Security Forces-East (SF-E) met the vice President of the IOC - TCO Mr. Debanjan Mukarji, Chief Priest of Koneshwaram Hindu Temple Kurukkal Shanmuganatha and Chief Maulavi of Al Duhul Mosque Mohomad Jawzinat.

Afterwards, the Commander Security Forces-East (SF-E) visited the 223 Infantry Brigade and 222 Infantry Brigade respectively. Brigade Commanders comprehensively briefed the visiting Commander of Security Forces-East (SF-E) on the roles, tasks, and responsibilities of their respective Brigades. The Commander Security Forces-East (SF-E) did not forget to make complimentary remarks in respective visitors' books.

Major General G.M.N Perera RWP RSP USP ndc, General Officer Commanding, 22 Infantry Division, Brigade Commanders, all Staff Officers, Commanding Officers of all under command battalions together with all subordinate officers and other ranks interacted with the Commander, Security Forces-East during the visit.
