New Commander Pays Courtesy Calls on President &;amp; Secretary Defence


Just a few hours after Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake, new Commander of the Army took office at Army Headquarters on Thursday (1) morning, he paid courtesy calls on HE the President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces and Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa extending his best wishes on his assumption of office as 20th Commander of the Army assured the government’s continued welfare support for all ranks in the organization.

During the Commander Lieutenant General Ratnayake’s formal courtesy call  on Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development at the Ministry of Defence Thursday (1) afternoon.

Mr Rajapaksa during his interaction with the new Commander of the Army extended his best wishes on his appointment and assured his fullest cooperation and guidance to elevate the Army to suit 21st century technological and educational standards.

The visiting new Commander presented both HE the President and Secretary Defence with two mementos before taking leave of them.
