Brigadier Bathiya Madanayake of the Gemunu Watch Regiment assumed duties as the new Commandant at Rana Viru Sevana (RVS), Ragama on Tuesday (March 07) during a simple ceremony at his office.
He was greeted with a Guard Turnout at the entrance and was subsequently invited to plant a sapling in the compound symbolizing the significance of the day. He marked the assumption of his duties by placing his signature symbolically in an official document, amidst the chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha in the presence of several officers of the RVS.
Soon after assumption of his duties, Brigadier Bathiya Madanayake addressed the troops and visited wards inquiring into medical conditions of the residents and facilities provided.
He succeeds Brigadier Jeevan Gunatilaka who has now taken over duties as the Centre Commandant at Vijabahu Infantry Regimental Centre.
