Major General W.T.W.G Ihalage RWP RSP psc ptsc on Friday (2 June) assumed office as the 13th Colonel of the Regiment of the Special Forces (SF) Regiment during a simple ceremony, preceded by religious observances and formalities at the SF Regimental Centre in Naula.
Symbolically placing his signature in an official document, he marked the assumption of duties amid chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha, invited to the inauguration.
The Centre Commandant and all Staff Officers at the Regimental Centre warmly welcomed the newly-appointed Colonel of the Regiment on arrival at the premises and ushered him to the office.
General Officer Commanding, 57 Infantry Division, Major General J. P. C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, General officer Commanding, 64 Infantry Division Major General H. D. W. K. N Eriyagama RWP RSP, General officer Commanding, 59 Infantry Division, Major General R. M. M Ranasinghe WWV RWP RSP, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the day’s inauguration of the new office.
In addition to this new appointment, he is serving as the General Officer Commanding, 58 Infantry Division under the 1 Corps HQ.
