New Colonel Commandant Visits 5 Reconnaissance Regiment

Major General Prathap Tillekerathne, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Armoured Corps paid his first visit to the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment in Pangolla on 10 July after recent assumption of office as the Colonel Commandant.

He was warmly welcomed by the Commanding Officer of the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment, together with a Guard Turnout salute at the entrance.

The new Colonel Commandant was the 6th Commanding Officer of the 5 Reconnaissance Regiment some time ago. He was briefed about the present status of the unit by the present Commanding Officer.

Colonel Commandant appreciated all the Commanding Officers who commanded the unit from the inception for their hard work to uplift the standards of the unit. In the troops address Colonel Commandant paid his gratitude to all fallen war heroes and injured soldiers for their immense contribution to the nation.

After the troop address, he also took his time to have a conversation with all ranks of the unit. Further, the Colonel Commandant appreciated the soldiers of the unit for their dedication towards the regiment during his camp visit after inspecting the newly-constructed main kitchen for Other Ranks.
