Major General A. M. C.W.B Seneviratne assumed duties on Friday as new Chief of Staff of the Army after a brief ceremony at his office in the Army Headquarters.
Amidst chanting of Pirith by members of the Maha Sangha, he lit the traditional oil lamp and marked his assumption of office after placing his signature on an official document. Meanwhile, Major General G.S.C Fonseka on Monday (12) took office as new Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army after a very brief ceremony at the Army Headquarters. Major General Fonseka inaugurated his office by placing his signature on another official document before he talked to a gathering of Senior Officers and joined them for tea.
