Gajaba Regiment (GR) saluted the new Chief of Staff, Major General Jagath Dias on Friday (29) in a fitting ceremony, held at the GR Regimental Centre at Saliyapura.
During the first formal visit to his Regimental Headquarters after assumption of office as the Chief of Staff, a Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour, saluted Major General Jagath Dias after he was warmly received by Brigadier W.M.J.R.K Senaratne, Centre Commandant, GR.
Major General Dias afterwards laid a floral wreath at the GR monument and recalled past memories of fallen GR War Heroes in a commemorative tribute.
During an all rank tea party later on, Major General Dias took time off to share a few thoughts with GR troops who were present. An all rank lunch at the Officers’ Mess culminated the day’s proceedings.
