The Kanagambigaikulam Tamil School where children suffer due to lack of infrastructure facilities was gifted with a new building fulfilling a long-term expectation of the children.
Foundation stones for the new building were laid by the General Officer Commanding at 57 Division, Mr K Sumanhiran, Regional Development Manager at Ceylinco Life Insurance and the Principal of the School on Wednesday (15) during a simple ceremony, organized by the 16 (Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops at the venue.
The construction of the new classroom complex where more than 200 students enables accommodation and it was assisted by the Ceylinco Life Insurance Limited as one of their community welfare projects.
The financial assistance for the construction was provided by the Ceylinco Insurance Limited while Army troops provided their labour assistance.
Brigadier Anura Sudasinghe, GOC, 57 Division together with Lieutenant Colonel Mahinda Sarathchandra, Commanding Officer at 16 SLLI, Mr K Sumanthiran, Regional Development Manager, Mr Dayasilan, Manager, Mr Kantharuban, Assistant Manager at Ceylinco Life Insurance Limited and the Principal of the School Mrs S Sundaralingham, Army officers, other ranks, teacher and students participated in the ceremony.
