New ARTRAC Commander Assumes Duties

Major General Pradeep de Silva, in addition to his present as Director General General Staff at Army Headquarters and Colonel of the Regiment of Commando Regiment assumed office as the new Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Training Command (ARTRAC) at Diyatalawa during a brief ceremony on Friday (7).

Senior Staff officers of the ARTRAC welcomed the new ARTRAC Commander on arrival at the main entrance and requested him to receive the Guard Turnout, presented in his honour.

Symbolically inaugurating his office, Major General Pradeep Silva afterwards initialled the first official document, pertaining to his duties while the members of the Maha Sangha invoked blessings on the new Commander by chanting 'Seth Pirith'.

After a while, the new Commander planted a sapling near the main entrance to the ARTRAC Headquarter premises. He then moved on to address a gathering of Officers and Other Ranks serving in the ARTRAC. Towards the end of day’s proceedings, the new Commander enjoyed refreshments with All Ranks.

He replaced Major General Suraj Bansajayah who recently retired from the Army.
