Lieutenant General Sarath Fonseka paid a courtesy call on His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapakse on 09th December 2005 at Temple Trees after he took over office as the 18th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.
His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapakse as Commander In- Chief of the Armed Forces, during this formal meeting with the Army Commander, exchanged views on the current security situation as well as matters of mutual interest.
The visiting military chief presented a memento to President Mahinda Rajapakse to signify the historic and important visit.
