New 61 Division GOC Assumes Duties

The newly-appointed General Officer Commanding (GOC), 61 Division, Brigadier W.G H.A.S Bandara assumed duties on Tuesday (11) as the GOC 61 Division during a simple ceremony at the Divisional Headquarters premises in Velankulam, Vauvuniya.

A Guard Turn Out, religious observances and a tree planting in keeping with military traditions added importance to the occasion.

Afterwards, the newly-appointed GOC attended an all rank tea party.

Brigade Commanders of the 611, 612 and 613 Brigades, Commanding Officers and a few Senior Officers of the 61 Division also took part in the inaugural occasion.
