New 58 Div GOC Assumes & Former GOC Relinquishes

Brigadier Priyanka Fernando assumed office on Wednesday (4) as the 15th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 58 Division Headquarters in Puttalam.

The newly-appointed GOC on arrival was greeted to a Guard Turnout at the camp premises. Afterwards, he planted a Mango sapling and added memories to the occasion.

Afterwards, he symbolized the acceptance of the new office by placing his signature for an official document. A few minutes later, he addressed the troops in conformity with military traditions and requested everyone’s support for performance of his duties.

Staff Officers in the Division HQ, Brigade representatives, Senior Officers, Commanding Officers and Other Ranks were present during the occasion.

Meanwhile, troops of the 58 Division bade farewell to the outgoing 14th General Officer Commanding of the 58 Division, Major General K.H.P.P Fernando on Monday (2) at the Divisional Headquarters in Sinnavillu Watta, Puttalam.

A Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour of the 1 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment troops saluted the outgoing GOC.

Afterwards, the outgoing GOC addressed the troops.
