Brigadier H. J Senevirathne assumed duties as the 16th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Division, Kokkeliya, Vavuniya on Friday (04).
The newly-appointed GOC was greeted to a Guard Turnout by Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops serving in the 56 Division at the entrance to the Division Headquarters.
A brief Pirith chanting invoked blessings on the new office while the new GOC signed an official document.
He planted a tree sapling in the premises after assumption of duties.
A brief address to the troops brought the event to end.
