MAJOR GENERAL S.A.P.P. Samarasinghe, Commandant, Sri Lanka Medical Corps (SLMC) during a simple military ceremony on April 7, raised the 5 Sri Lanka Medical Corps at Panagoda.
Major K.K.M. Kannangara, Commanding Officer in the newly raised 5 SLMC flew the Corps Flag and attended to the religious ceremonies. The new office complex of the 5 SLMC was declared open later on after lighting the traditional oil lamp.
Major General Samarasinghe appealed to all present to extend suffer of all other sister units to this new wing. Major General Sanjeewa Munasinghe, Medical Advisor also addressed the gathering on the occasion. Several Senior Army officers were present on the occasion.
