Major General H.H.K.S.S Hewage RWP RSP USP rcds psc of the Sri Lanka Artillery assumed office as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 21 Infantry Division on Thursday (11 Jan) amidst religious blessings and military formalities at the Division Headquarters in Anuradhapura.
Day’s itinerary commenced with a Guard turnout and a Guard of Honour by the 9 Gajaba Regiment troops. Afterwards, the newly-appointed GOC left his signature in an official document, signifying the acceptance of his new office amidst chanting of ‘Seth Pirith’ by members of the Maha Sangha.
Later he planted a sapling, posed for a few group photographs, addressed the troops and interacted with troops during an all ranks tea. Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks also took part in those events.
