New 142 Brigade Commander Assumes Office

Brigadier Nilantha Fernando assumed duties as the 37th Commander of the 142 Brigade, amid religious blessings at the Headquarters in Kohuwala on Monday (2).

The newly-appointed Commander of the 142 Brigade was warmly welcomed by Staff Officers and honoured in a Guard Turnout, presented by the troops of the 14 Battalion of the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment. Afterwards, Brigadier Nilantha Fernando placed his signature in the first official document to mark his assumption of duties, amidst religious observances in the presence of senior officers.

An All Rank tea and the formal address to the Officers and Other Ranks culminated the day's proceedings. Commanding Officers and Brigade staff were present at the occasion.
