Nepal's Army Chief Pays Courtesy Call on HE the President

General Rajendra Chhetri, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) of the Nepal Army currently in Sri Lanka on a goodwill tour at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army paid a courtesy call on HE the President Maithripala Sirisena, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Friday (19) morning at the President’s House, in the company of his host, Commander of the Army.

HE the President Sirisena extended a warm welcome to the visiting Army Chief of Nepal before he began a formal courtesy meeting with him, in which both the President and the visitor refreshed the memories of sound relations that have been existing between both nations. President Sirisena also underlined the importance of maintaining the status-quo as friendly South Asian neighbours.

Towards the culmination of the courtesy meeting, the visiting COAS of Nepal awarded a special memento to the President as a symbol of goodwill and cherished memories. The gesture was reciprocated.

Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army and a few senior Nepal military Officers were associated during the audience with the President.

Meanwhile, General Rajendra Chhetri, COAS of the Nepal paid a separate courtesy call at the Navy Headquarters and met the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Sirimevan Ranasinghe this morning (19).

The Nepal COAS was accorded a special Guard of Honour in compliance with naval traditions upon his arrival and warmly received at the Navy Headquarters. Subsequently, he held cordial discussions with Commander of the Navy on several matters of mutual interest and mementoes were exchanged to signify the occasion. General Rajendra Chhetri also posed for a group photograph together with Navy Commander and Director Generals of the Navy.
