Nepal's Army Chief Impressed with Jaffna's Post-Conflict Transformation


General Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana, Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, presently in Sri Lanka with a delegation at the invitation of his Sri Lanka's counterpart, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake went to Jaffna on Sunday (2) where he met the Jaffna Security Force Commander before he visited Nallur Hindu Temple and several other places.

The visiting Nepal's Army Chief and His Spouse Mrs Rohini Rana, accompanied by Major General Rajendra Chhetri, Quarter Master General of Nepal Army were received on arrival in Jaffna by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) and Mrs Udaya Perera.

At the outset, a comprehensive briefing given by Major General Perera enlightened him on the Army's post-conflict reconstruction, reconciliation and other roles in different spheres of development still underway in the peninsula.

Later on, the delegation called at the sacred Nallur Hindu Temple and took part in a special Pooja. They also visited a few other places of social and cultural interest in the peninsula before they flew back to Colombo, the same afternoon.

To signify his visit and add a memorable gesture, an exchange of mementoes took place at the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna.
