Nepal Army Chief's Spouse Visits Mihindu Seth Medura as Chief Guest at SVAU's Invitation

The separate Seva Vanitha Army Unit programme that went into action on Monday (3) on behalf Mrs Rohini Rana, the spouse of the visiting  Nepal's Chief of Army Staff,  General Gaurav Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana, included a visit to the Mihindu Seth Medura (MSM) at Attidiya where a group of about 52 permanently dependent War Heroes are housed for the rest of their lives.

Organized under the close supervision of Mrs Damayanthi Ratnayake, President, Seva Vanitha Army Unit (SVAU), the Chief Guest, Mrs Rohini Rana was warmly received by Mrs Ratnayake with offer of a floral bouquet in the company of several SVAU senior members and the MSM Commandant. She was later on conducted to the main auditorium for the ceremony proper in a clourful procession of traditional dancers and a bevy of auspicious drummers.

A presentation on Seva Vanitha Projects and future roles and tasks, produced by the Executive Secretary of the SVAU enlightened the visiting lady Chief Guest who afterwards made inquiries into various aspects of those SVAU projects.  After she saw for herself how the SMS looks after those inmates in the company of SVAU President and others while visiting MSM wards, she was invited to signify her arrival by placing her signature in the VIP book at the MSM and posing for a group photo.

Exchange of mementoes towards the end of the day's programme occurred as symbols of goodwill and friendship between both ladies' clubs in Nepal and Sri Lanka. Intermittent entertaining features of the Army cultural troupe provided variety to the occasion, attended by many senior officers.
