To be in line with the Army Commander's directive to SFHQs, 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops of the SFHQ-Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN), on the instructions of the Commander Security Forces, Kilinochchi, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe erected one more new house for needy family in Civic Centre area, Kilinochchi and vested it in the family on Monday (12) .
The community project, aimed at promoting gestures of reconciliation, goodwill and harmony was completed by 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops under the supervision of the Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel L Epa In addition to their construction expertise, the same 9 SLSR troops were generous enough to buy a stock of essential provisions and household items for the family of Mr. Rasayya Rajeshwaram on Hospital Road, Civic Centre area who are living in abject poverty with family members.
In keeping with Hindu traditions, Major General Harendra Ranasinghe, Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi as the Chief Guest, together with the Divisional Secretary for Karachchi and Kandawalei, General Officer Commanding of the 57 Division Major General Priyantha Jayawardana, Commander 571 Brigade, Brigadier Dammika Welagedara, Commander 573 Brigade, Brigadier Manoj Madurpperuma, Other Ranks who accomplished the project unveiled a plaque on the house and vested it in the beneficiaries amidst simple rites and rituals. The arrangement got underway adhering to all COVID-19 preventive measures.
During the programme, Divisional Secretary Karachchi delivered the special vote of thanks and appreciated the role of Army troops who take maximum preventive health measures and try to nab illegal activities in Kilinochchi area other than the CIMIC activities being done to the uplift the livelihood of Kilinochchi people.
