In view of hardships faced by civilians in general areas of Waduwakkal, Selvapuram, Unnapilavu, Wannam Kulam, Kallapdu-south, Silawaththa-south and Vidakare village, a free vegetable distribution programme got underway on Tuesday (1) on the instructions of Major General P.D Suriyabandara, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division and under the guidance of Major General Upali Rajapakse, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT).
Brigadier Sujeewa Perera, Commander, 591 Brigade packed up those varieties of vegetable with his troops before they were distributed among needy families in above areas.
Commanding Officers of 12 Sri Lanka Light Infantry, 24 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment, Divisional Secretary for Maritime Pattu (Muhudubadapattu) and a few government officials attended the distribution project.
