The Nedunkerni Divisional Secretariat was re-opened in a new building complex when a ministerial delegation recently visited the area.
Minister of Economic Development Mr Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Public Administration Mr W.D.J Senevirathna and Minister of Power and Energy Mr Patali Champika Ranawaka attended the opening ceremony in the company of new Divisional Secretary, Senior Army and Police officers and state officials in the area. They unveiled the plaque on the building and declared it opened.
The visiting ministerial delegation was received warmly by Divisional Secretary, 56 Division General Officer Commanding Brigadier N.A.P. Napagoda, 561 Brigade Commander Brigadier D.A.R Ranawaka and senior Police officers in the area.
Ministers lit the traditional oil lamp and opened the new building according to Hindu traditions. Afterwards the visiting ministers distributed water pumps and push bicycles among farmers and school students in the area respectively.
The delegation spoke to a cross section of the public at the venue and assured more support for their fishing and agriculture in the future.
