THE 49th batch of senior military officers receiving advanced military training at the National Defence College (NDC) India, who were on a three-day visit to the island, met commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at his office on Thursday (24).
The visit is part of the annual training programme of the senior officers receiving education in the NDC.
The delegation headed by the senior member of the Directing Staff NDC Air Vice Marshal S.K. Karmaker comprised Senior Officers of the Army, Navy and Air Force from India, Nepal, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan and Myanmar and their spouses.
Commander of the Army received the NDC officers at his office and shared views on their visit and enlightened them on security matters, related to the post-war scenario.
To mark their visit to Colombo Army Headquarters, foreign senior military officers exchanged mementoes with Lt. Gen. Jayasuriya.
The following day, the visiting delegation flew to Jaffna and Trincomalee where they were briefed on recently concluded humanitarian operations by the Commanders of respective Security Forces Headquarters (SFHQ), Major General L.B.R. Mark SF Commander-Jaffna and Major General Srinath Rajapaksa SF Commander-East.
They also met the Governor Northern Province Major General (Retd) G.A. Chandrasiri and the Governor for East Rear Admiral (Retd) Mohan Samarawickrama at 22 Division Headquarters in Trincomalee.
They also met a section of senior military and civil administrative officers before leaving the island on Saturday (26).
