Navy ‘Galle Dialogue’ Begins Sessions

The annual pride of the Sri Lanka Navy, ‘Galle Dialogue’, the two-day International Maritime Conference - 2019 got to a start this morning (21) at Galle Face Hotel under the theme, “Refining Mindset to Address Transnational Maritime Threats: A Review of the Decade” amid a large gathering of foreign and local experts in the Naval sphere.

Organized jointly by the Ministry of Defence and the Sri Lanka Navy, this annual forum assembles regional and global Naval experts with a view to exchanging a variety of concerns prevailing in the security of oceans and sea-routes.

Hon. Ruwan Wijewardane, State Minister of Defence, Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, Mr Udaya Seneviratne, President’s Secretary, General (Retd) Shantha Kottegoda, Secretary Defence, Mr Ravinath Ariyasinghe, Foreign Secretary, Admiral Ravindra C Wijegunaratne, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri-Service Commanders and Sri Lankan think-tanks were present.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, Commander of the Army during the sessions had the rare distinction of greeting several foreign senior Navy Officers attending the deliberations at the Hotel, Galle Face. Some of them were enthusiastic to come forward and greet Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva and share a few thoughts with him during the sessions.
