Navatkuli Students Taken on Army Organized Educational Tour

Nearly 100 students of Jaffna’s Navatkuli Sakalakalavallavan Vidyalaya, Navatkuli Maha Vidyalaya and Kovilakkandy Government Tamil Mixed School, situated in the 523 Brigade area, added an unforgettable day to their school career a few days back when all of them were taken on an educational trip by the Army.

This four-day trip organized by the 18th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch (18 GW) of Thanankilappu exposed the students to enjoy the sight of many historic and important places in Kandy and Nuwara Eliya areas and interact with their counterparts in schools in those visiting areas.

Students visited Dambulla and Mihinthale rock temples, historic sites at Matale, Temple of the Tooth in Kandy and the Botanical Garden in Peradeniya, University of Peradeniya, Victoria and Randenigala Mahaweli Reservoirs and power stations, Mailapitiya War Memorial, Hakgala Garden, Seeta Eliya, Seethai Amman Kovil, St Clair, Ramboda and Devon waterfalls, Anuradhapura Sri Maha Bodhi and Ruwanweliseya during their four day trip that started on 29th May.

Commanding Officer of 18 GW Lieutenant Colonel Sampath Bulathgama and his officers arranged accommodation and meals to students, parents and teachers joining the trip throughout all four days. Soldiers provided them with details of all the places they visited during the trip.

Commander 523 Brigade Colonel Channa Weerasooriya coordinated the trip organized with the guidance of General Officer Commanding 52 Division Brigadier Anura Sudhasinghe.
