Naval Students Visit MIR Headquarters on Study Tour

A team of 20 Student Officers of the Junior Naval Staff Course No 23 of the Navy, accompanied by members of the Directing Staff at Naval and Maritime Academy paid a visit to the Mechanized Infantry Regimental (MIR) Centre at Dambulla on Thursday (24) with a view to learning about mechanical aspects.

The overlooking Centre Commandant, Lieutenant Colonel K.K.S Perakum welcomed those visiting Student Officers and Officer Instructors to the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre and explained the role and tasks of the MIR.

A separate presentation conducted by the General Staff Officer II, Major Asanka Wimalaweera provided the visiting Student Officers with an extensive picture of the overall function of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment and its importance to the Army.

Afterwards, the visiting Student Officers watched the function of several Infantry Carrying Vehicles and Armoured Personnel carriers of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment.

Concluding the visit, Student Officers presented a memento to the Regimental Centre as an appreciative gesture.bridge media | Sneakers
