Army, Navy and Air Force Student Officers following the Junior Naval Staff Course - 38 at Naval & Maritime Academy, Trincomalee made a familiarization tour to Mullaittivu area and called at the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu on Saturday (23 Sep).
On behalf of, Major General M.K Jayawardena RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu, the Brigadier General Staff at the SFHQ Mullaittivu, Brigadier S.D.P.C Arachchige and Senior Officers welcomed them and presented an account of their role and tasks to the visitors before Lieutenant Colonel T.D.M.D.S Meegolla explained the Humanitarian Operation that was conducted before May 2009 and how SFHQ-MLT contributed to its success.
Next, they visited the 68 Infantry Division area, Puthukkudiyiruppu and saw the Victory Monument and the LTTE’s old submarine yard.
They presented special mementos to the Commander, SF-MLT and to the General Officer Commanding of 68 Infantry Division before they left. The gestures were reciprocated.
