Troops of the 53 Division took steps to convert the National Youth Center at Inamaluwa, Dambulla to serve as an Intermediate Care Centre (ICC) in the event of any surge in the number of infectees of COVID-19 in the region. The Army -improvised ICC - National Youth Center Inamaluwa began its operations since Monday (24) onwards.
The ICC was made a reality with the support of the Health officials and workers at Dambulla Base Hospital in coordination with the GOC 53 Division Major General Nishantha Manage to accommodate COVID patients in an emergency. Troops completed the project with a capacity of 154 beds as per guidelines given by the GOC 53 Division.
Health officials and workers at Dambulla Hospital, Government Officials and Army officers participated in the conversion work and the inaugural programme.
