Mullaittivu Woman Soldiers Pass Out in Glittering Ceremony

 
In compliance with military formalities, generally conducted in all military ceremonies elsewhere, the first batch of 30 woman recruits from Mullaittivu area, passed out on Wednesday (2) during a colourful ceremony upon completion of their three-month long training period at the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT).
 
The ceremony, headed by Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT as the Chief Guest, took place at the SFHQ-MLT ground with the participation of a gathering of Mullaittivu state officials including Mr N. Vedanayagam, District Secretary for Mullaittivu, school principals, school cadets, parents and relatives of woman soldiers, well-wishers, senior citizens and civilians from the area.
 
The Passing out Parade (PoP), saluted the Commanding Officer, 6 Sri Lanka Army Women’s Corps, who conducted the training for those Mullaittivu woman recruits, in accordance with military traditions in the Guard of Honour, accorded to her after she reviewed the parade. 
 
Soon after the PoP, those woman soldiers staged a PT demonstration on their own and a band display, adding colour, excitement and variety to the occasion as the invitees, broke into rapturous applause.
 
A subsequent get-together these graduates, have had with their parents and relatives afterwards saw all of them emotionally embrace with one another in glee as those woman soldiers are earmarked to take up duties for civil co-ordination work.
 
Major General Jagath Dias took time off to speak to each and every parent of those new woman soldiers attending the occasion and shared a couple of views and pleasantries with them.
