Troops of 591 Brigade organized a 50 over Inter- School Cricket Tournament on a suggestion made by Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaitivu (SFHQ-MLT), got underway amidst a large gathering of cricket fans and school students at Mullaitvu Maha Vidyalayam and Mullaitivu Public Ground on Saturday (15).
Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, SFHQ-MLT as the Chief Guest, Mr N. Wedanayagam, District Secretary of Mullaittivu, Mr. N. Rajkumar, Zonal Director of Education, Mr. S. Alfred, Principal of Mullaitivu Maha Vidyalaya, Mr. K. Sivalingam, Principal of Vidyananda Vidyalaya, Brigade Commanders of the area and Commanding Officers of Battalions were among the distinguished guests who watched the final encounters.
591 Brigade Commander with the help of donors and well-wishers coordinated the supply of all trophies, sport-dresses, presents and sports equipment required for the tournament.
Vidyananda Vidyalayam emerged Champions with 128 marks. The cricketer, A Anwayam, the team captain of the winner school, received the Champion Trophy from the Chief Guest on behalf of his school.
