The annual 'Innoveta - Mullaittivu', the new innovation exhibition for 2019, organized by the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu got underway on Thursday (25) at its Headquarters in Nandikadal.
Initiated on the directions of Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu, Army troops in all Divisions, Brigades and the Forward Maintenance Area presented 30 new innovations for the Exhibition.
The selecting committee included Colonel S.D Udayasena, Army Research and Development Branch, Dr Pubalasundaram, Senior Lecturer, University of Jaffna and Dr P Sashikesh, Senior Lecturer, Jaffna University who inspected the innovations closely for selection.
The Commander, Security Forces - Mullaittivu graced the awarding event as the Chief Guest, together with General Officers Commanding, Commander, FMA, Director, Army Research and Development Branch, Senior Staff Officers, Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers and Senior Officers.
Following new innovations were selected and given valuable prizes including cash prizes.
1st place - Sergeant P.W.C Pathirana of 1 Sri Lanka Light Infantry who produced the modified automatic side stand for motorbike rider safety.
2nd place - Major M.P.S Kumara of 641 Brigade who produced an efficient safe white cane for the blind.
