Mullaittivu Civilians Benefited in Many Community Projects on Account of Independence

Troops of the 68 Division under the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) coordinated with the ‘A. A Samarasinghe Optometrists’ in Colombo and launched a mobile eye clinic at Puthukkudiyiruppu Madya Maha Vidyalaya premises in Puthukkudiyiruppu, Mullaittivu on Sunday (4), in which 350 pairs of spectacles were distributed after examining vision impairments.

Those optometrists voluntarily held the eye clinic in parallel with their 50th anniversary at the request of the SFHQ-MLT. They examined more than 350 Mullaittivu civilians who reached there and recommended necessary consultations.

After the eye clinic, a total of 350 selected civilians received spectacles, each valued at Rs 1250/=. The stock of distributed spectacles was worth about Rs. 437,500/=.

The programme was held under the directions of Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, Security Forces – Mullaittivu (SF-MLT). Instructions of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 68 Division facilitated the conduct of the project.

Major General Nishantha Wanniarachchi, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division representing the Commander, SF-MLT, attended the inauguration of the camp as the Chief Guest.

Meanwhile, troops of the 59, 64 and 68 Divisions under the SFHQ-MLT distributed approximately 1200 useful plants of economic value among civilians in Mullaittivu area in order to help enhance their financial standards on Sunday (4), the 70th Independence Day. Distribution of those plants with economic value such as Jak (750), Siyambala (300) and Mahogani (150) took place in front of the SFHQ-MLT.

Major General Dushyantha Rajaguru, Commander, SF-MLT has extended his blessings to the project. Officers, Other Ranks and a large gathering of civilians were present during both occasions.
