NORTH & EAST: ARMY troops continued their search and clear operations in the general areas of VISUAMADU, MANKULAM and PUTHUKKUDDIYIRUPPU on Sunday (25) and found a large cache of explosives, arms and ammunition including mortar bombs and claymore mines.
Three T-56 weapons, two hundred and fifty T-56 magazines, five hundred and seventy-six rounds of T-56 ammunition, four Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG), two T-81 magazines, fifty-four hand grenades, one belt order, one T-97 Sub Machine Gun (SMG), one SMG magazine, thirty round of SMG ammunition, one micro pistol, four 81 mm mortar bombs, five 82mm mortar bombs, two hundred and fifty rounds of 9mm ammunition, ten detonator codes, eight Yesu radio sets, twenty Silva compasses, forty bomb manufacturing structures, one hundred and nine bomb parts, thirty-eight fuses, thirty-two No. 27 detonators , one hundred and seventy-four anti personnel mines, fifty-five 60 mm mortar bombs, 3.5 kg of C-4 explosives, six electric detonators, six non-electric detonators, 21-feet long detonator code, safety fuses together 7 feet in length, one 81 mm base plate, three 60 mm base plates, one 60 mm bipod, one rounds of a Recoilless gun, two RPG rounds, forty rounds of General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) ammunition, ten Light Machine Gun (LMG) drums, one I-com set and a large stock of weapon spares were among the recoveries.
In the meantime, troops in the east conducted their search and clear operations in KALKUDA, MULLIVADDUWAN and DIMBULAGALA areas and recovered seven rounds of 130 mm artillery shells, five rounds of 122 mm artillery shells, thirty-seven 81 mm mortar bombs, thirty-four 60mm mortar bombs, three RPG rounds, ninety-two 40 mm grenade launcher ammunition, one hundred and seventy rounds of T-56 ammunition, one hundred and twenty-seven Multi Purposes Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, two hundred and fourteen rounds of 12.7 ammunition, five hand grenades and one 40 mm grenade launcher on the same day (26).
Meanwhile, troops of Sri Lanka Air Force recovered two hand grenades from the general area of TISSAPURA in KANTHALE on the same day (26)
In the meantime, Special Task Force (STF) troops of Sri Lanka Police assisted by Army troops on information, conducted search and clear operations in the general areas of KURUTHTHANMADU and KORAKIMADU and recovered eleven thousand and one hundred rounds of T-56 ammunition, two thousand five hundred and sixty rounds of 9mm micro pistol ammunition, three thousand and eight hundred rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, eight landmines, three explosive chargers, one hundred and twenty rounds of Multi Purpose Machine Gun (MPMG) ammunition, four claymore mines and one hand grenade on Sunday (26).
