On a tip-off received by Intelligence troops, 16 Gajaba Regiment troops under the 143 Brigade serving Tabbowa - Puttalam road recovered a stock of 516 kg buried turmeric along the Kalpitiya - Thudawa beach patch on Friday (29) night.
The unearthed contraband was handed over to the Kalpitiya Police station for further investigations.
Commander 143 Brigade supervised the troops on the directions of the General Officer Commanding 14 Division and the Commander Security Forces - West.
