More Troops Qualify in Military Engineering School’s BIEDD - 4 and CBRN - 2 Courses

The badge awarding ceremony of the Bomb and Improvised Explosive Devices Disposal course - No 4 (BIEDD) and the Chemical Biological Radiology and Nuclear Response Course - No 2 (CBRB) took place on Friday (25) at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering (SLSME) at Embilipitiya.

Major General Chandana Wijayasundera, Colonel Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers and Commander, Security Forces-Jaffna as the Chief Guest attended the occasion.

4 Officers and 22 Other Ranks after completing the BIEDD course qualified to wear Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) badge and 4 Officers and 27 Other Ranks received CBRN badges after completion of the Chemical Biological Radiology and Nuclear Response course. Both courses were held simultaneously at the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering at Embilipitiya for a period of three months.

The Centre Commandant of the Corps of Sri Lanka Engineers, Brigadier Manoj Madurapperuma, Commander, General Engineer Brigade, Brigadier Chandika Peiris, Commandant of the Sri Lanka School of Military Engineering, Colonel Chandana Wickramanayake, Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks participated in the event.

The following Officers and Other Ranks secured the highest average during the BIEDD/CBRN courses:

  a.   Major K.G.M.L Priyantha (12 SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in Officers’ category in BIEDD Course.

  b.   Lance Corporal T.M Fernando (12 SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in ORs’ category in BIEDD Course.

  c.   Captain B.H.C.D Gunathilaka (5 SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in Officers’ category in CBRN course.

  d.   Lance Corporal J.A.M.M Jayawardane (9 SLE) - The First in Order of Merit in ORs’ category in CBRN course.
