More Terrorists Bite Dust as Fighting Moves Ahead

VAVUNIYA: GRADUAL FORWARD- MARCHING of the troops continued as planned for another day on Tuesday (1) amidst confrontations and pitched battles in WANNI and WELIOYA areas.

Those confrontations and attacks brought death to at least twenty-five terrorists and injured thirty nine of them during close fights at AMPANDANKULAM East, PERIYAMADU North, PALAMODDAI, NAVVI, ANDANKULAM, YALANKULAM and ECHARAKKAI in VAVUNIYA sector, ANDANKULAM, JANAKAPURA North, KOKKUTUDUWAI, KIRIIBBANWEVA in WELIOYA sector. Those intermittent clashes erupted between 7.00 a.m-6.30 p.m. on Tuesday (1) where at least some 25 terrorists died.

Those clashes and LTTE explosions claimed two precious lives of two soldiers and injured twenty-five valiant troops. Seven LTTE bunkers and a strong point of the terrorists were completely smashed during those skirmishes.

The dead body of a terrorist, fourteen claymore mines of 5 kg each, six hand grenades, five T-56 weapons, two Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), twenty-five anti personnel mines, two T-56 magazines and one anti- personnel mine fuse were later on recovered from those above locations after fighting was over for the day.
