More Positive Cases Reported-NOCPCO

As of this morning (5), a total of 443 more persons were confirmed positive to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. All of them were from locally-identified affectees, states the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

By 6.00 this morning (5), the total number of COVID-19 positive cases reported from Minuwangoda garment factory stands at 8,713. Of them, 1041 are factory employees, 1007 persons from Peliyagoda Fish Market and other 6,665 are locally-identified contacts of those garment factory-infected employees and the Fish Market. Of these, 412 employees of the Minuwangoda Garment Factory have fully recovered and 2,024 of their associates have been discharged from hospitals.

The flight QR 688 from Doha, Qatar with 22 passengers arrived in Colombo. All those passengers were referred to Quarantine Centres (QCs), managed by tri-services after formalities at the airport.

Within the day (5), 156 quarantined individuals after PCR tests are set to leave for their homes. Of them, 92 persons are from Koggala Resort QC, 27 persons from Hotel Ranweli QC and 37 persons from Galkanda QC.

To-date, 63,439 individuals have left for homes after quarantining. As of this morning (5), 2,601 persons in 33 tri service-managed QCs are still in quarantine. Within yesterday (4), 10,655 PCR tests were carried out across the country and the total PCR tests conducted so far stands at 557,458.

By 6.00 this morning (5), 277 fully-recovered COVID-19 patients were discharged from hospitals. Of them, 1 person was a foreigner and other 276 persons are identified as close contacts of the Minuwangoda garment factory-infected employees who were in quarantine at QCs.
