MORE OFFICERS AND SOLDIERS QUALIFY IN SIOC

The fifth Special Infantry Operational Course (SIOC), conducted in the Jaffna peninsula, saw six Officers and eighty-six Other Ranks pass out recently after their graduation.\\r\\n\\r\\nThis demanding SIOC training was primarily aimed at promoting and expanding psychological capacity of soldiers and meant to develop their physical talents to face any crisis situation. It includes airborne manoeuvres, engineering, sniper training, medical course, etc.\\r\\n\\r\\nThe pass-out parade, headed by Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna, Major Gen M. D. S Chandrapala got underway at Vasavilan Teachers\\\\\\\' Training School ground where merits and certificates to those successful soldiers were distributed. The SIOC commenced in December 2003 and ended on 9th April 2004. \\r\\n\\r\\nIn his address on the occasion, Major Gen Chandrapala identified those SIOC graduates as one of the best groups of soldiers who are able to face the enemy in a better way and capable of decimating them. He also appealed to the soldiers not to abuse the training given to them for personal gains and not to engage themselves in any anti-social activities.
