NORTH & EAST: ON INFORMATION GIVEN BY civilians, troops on search operations recovered three T - 56 magazines and twenty two pen torch batteries from the general area of KOTTAWATTA in JAFFNA Friday (5) at about 5.30 p.m.
Troops on continuous search and clear operations in THAMPANAI area VAVUNIYA recovered three LTTE anti personal mines Saturday (6).
The same day, VAVUNIYA troops on clearing operations in the areas around VILATTIKULAM recovered forty one mortar rounds, four Rocket Propeller bombs, one 60 mm base plate, one 60 mm mortar sight, three claymore bombs of 7 kg each, ninety anti personnel mines, ten anti tank mines, two 122 mm artillery rounds, three T - 56 weapons and one 81 mm mortar bipod.
Another recovery was made by Army troops in TRINCOMALEE Saturday (6) around 11.15 a.m. during a search conducted in the general area of POLLACHCHENAIKULAM.
The recovery included a stock of ration items hidden in a turret.
