More Completely Done Kendalanda Residential Quarters Vested in Army Families

General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Friday (9) morning before his attendance at the annual Army New Year event offered more welfare facilities to Army officers, resident in the Kendalanda Army housing complex by vesting a one-storied married quarters block which has been completely-renovated.

As the day’s Chief Guest arrived at the premises, a drive-past Guard Turnout saluted General Shavendra Silva before Major General Wasantha Abrew, Commander, Security Forces - West and Colonel of the Regiment of the SLLI welcomed him, together with a few senior officers. The day’s warming ceremonies got to a start after observance of religious rites.

During the brief ceremony, General Shavendra Silva gave away a replica of a key to selected family members of recipients, symbolized the warming by unveiling a plaque and cutting ribbons.

General Shavendra Silva took time off and shared a few thoughts with family members and children of those receipients while extending best wishes.

These quarters were renovated on a suggestion of the Commander of the Army in order to provide necessary facilities to families of the Officers working in various Army establishments, facilitating them to live with their families.
