Troops of the 511 Brigade of Ottahapulam, Atchuvely, in one more of its community welfare programmes, offered lunch to inmates and the staff of “Fernham” certified college, Atchuvely. The place run by Children and Women’s Bureau is looking after 34 children under probation. Commander 511 Brigade Colonel Priyanka Fernando and senior officers attended the event.
Meanwhile, soldiers of the 25 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (25 VIR) and 15 Sri Lanka National Guard (15 SLNG) engaged in civil military interdependency activities at four different places on Maha Siva Rathri Day.
Amman Kovil at Urelu was cleaned by the 25 VIR and lunch was provided to children at Irupalai Kanan Children’s Home.
The same day, 15 SLNG of Atchuvely provided camphor, incense, cow milk, flower and other items needed to make offerings for the festival at Ilaikadu Amman Kovil. The battalion also offered eatables and tea to children of Atchuvely Kaluri Children’s Home.
