More Community Projects Carried Out in the East


Troops of the 221, 222, 224, 231 and 233 Brigades serving under the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) during Sept 17 - 19, carried out a number of community-oriented welfare projects in their respective areas on the directions of the Commander - SFHQ-E.
 
More than 40 families living in Ariyamankerni village in the general area served by the 222 Brigade were provided drinking water by the soldiers of 22 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR), stationed in Kallar on Wednesday (17).
 
Two cleaning programmes, conducted by 5 Sri Lanka Artillery troops of the 224 Brigade and 6 Sri Lanka Armoured Corps (SLAC) troops of the 221 Brigade in the general areas of Jinnanagar pre-school in Thopoor and Mahadiwulwewa Indrarama temple in Trincomalee in order to minimize the threat of Dengue epidemic.
 
Meanwhile, 233 Brigade troops conducted an eye clinic with the help of eye surgeons of the government hospital for the benefit of elderly civilians in Koralepattu, Vakarai on Friday (19).
 
Similarly, 12 Gajaba Regiment (GR) troops of the 231 Brigade and 22 VIR troops of 222 Brigade of the SFHQ-E offered lunch and toys to inmates at Mancafe orphanage at Manmune North on Thursday (18) where some 40 disable children are housed. 22 VIR troops in a similar manner offered lunch to 39 children of the ‘Rewatha Orphanage’ to coincide with the 22 VIR Battalion’s 5th Anniversary on Friday (19).
 
In the meantime, 8 Gemunu Watch (GW) troops of the 231 Brigade gave away exercise books to students at Kopaveli Government’s Tamil Mixed School, Weligahakandiya Vipulananda Vidyalaya and Thumpalancholai Pre-school, following sponsorship provided by the Second in Command (2IC) of 8 GW Battalion to coincide with his daughter’s 10th birthday.
