More Claymores Found by Troops

NORTH & WANNI: FOLLOWING INFORMATION received from a civilian, troops conducted an instant search in the general area of CHIRUPPIDDI, JAFFNA Tuesday (30) around 12.10 p.m. and recovered deadly explosives and arms.

During the search, troops found one claymore mine, three S-85 type hand grenades, five T-56 magazines and one hundred rounds of live ammunition left buried in an abandoned land.

Meanwhile, troops on search and clear operations in KADAWANA area, WELIOYA Tuesday (30) recovered three claymore mines of 5 kg each, four T 56 magazines, one silencer weapon magazine, seven communication radio antennas and seven LTTE flags.

Meanwhile, troops recovered two shotguns and one LTTE Identity Card from the general area of ILUKKUVEDDAI, BATTICALOA Tuesday (30) at about 2.45 p.m.

In another development, troops had to open fire on a gang of Tiger terrorists while they were advancing towards the troops in NAVAKKULAM area, VAVUNIYA around 1.45 p.m. on Tuesday (30).

It was later confirmed one female Tiger has died in the fire.
