More than 95 soldiers serving in the 231 Brigade under the 23 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - East in order to replenish dwindling blood stocks at blood bank at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital volunteered to give their blood during an arrangement, held at the 231 Brigade HQ premises on Friday (19).
The blood donation was organized in response to a request made by the Blood Bank at Batticaloa Teaching Hospital as their stocks were fast on the decrease. A medical team including medical officers, nurses and medical assistants arrived at the 231 Brigade HQ and collected blood from the troops.
On the instructions of the Commander, SF-E, General Officer Commanding of 23 Division, Major General K.A.N.N Koswatta, Commander 231 Brigade, Brigadier W.M.N.K.D Bandara, Colonel General Staff 23 Division, Civil affairs Officer 23 Division, Officers and troops of the 231 Brigade organized the event and visited the location when the project was underway.
