More Than 20 Tractor Loads of Plastic Waste in Mannar Taken for Recycling

A mammoth cleaning project launched in Mannar and its suburbs collected more than 20 tractor loads of plastic waste, garbage, glass bottles and pollutants, thanks to the involvement of troops of the 54 Infantry Division, Navy, Air Force and civilians in the area on Thursday (18 May).

Troops and civilians joined together with District Secretariat and Municipal Council employees extended their cleaning to the popular coastal belt after they collected pollutants.

The stock of plastic waste and glass bottles was delivered to the 542 Infantry Brigade HQ for recycling through Army tractors. More than 100 Army troops as per guidelines given by Major General W.W.H.R.R.R.V.M.N.D.K.B Niyangoda RWP RSP VSV USP ndu psc, General Officer Commanding of the 54 Infantry Division enthusiastically contributed to the project.
