More Than 1000 East-based Army Troops with Volunteers Carry out Concurrent Beach Cleaning in Three Districts

More than 1000 troops of the 22 Division, 23 Division and 24 Division under command to the Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E) on Friday (6), together with hundreds of school children, volunteers and state employees in respective areas simultaneously launched a mega beach clean-up drive in Trincomalee’s Fort Fredric area, Orrs’ Hill, Koneshwaram and Maniyaweli beaches in Trincomalee, Kayankerni, Kaththankudy and Kalkudah in Batticaloa and in the general areas of Kalmunai, Pottuvil, Arugam Bay in the Ampara district.

On a concept of Major General Rasika Fernando, Commander, Security Forces - East, the mammoth campaign while cleaning the most polluted beach patches in respective districts educated the young ones on the importance of environmental protection and conservation. Army and Urban Council tractors supported the transport of collected garbage and pollutants for disposal while the project was underway.

Respective General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers actively contributed to the project covering their areas of responsibility.latest jordans | Sneakers
