In response to an appeal over the acute dearth of blood at Mullaittivu District Hospital, troops of the 68 Division under the Security Force HQ-Mullaittivu urgently launched a blood donation drive among troops at the 68 Division HQ premises and collected blood for seriously-ill patients at this hospital on Thursday (9).
A total of 107 All Ranks, including Officers donated their blood to fulfill the requirement of blood stocks in this hospital as stocks were fast on the decrease, due to COVID-19 pandemic. Medical Staff of the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital and the Mullaittivu District Hospital jointly attended to the arrangement. Major General Keerthi Bandara, General Officer Commanding, 68 Division on the guidelines given by Major General Sisira Pilapitiya, Commander, SF-Mullaittivu organized the event with the support of Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers.
Medical Staff including doctors, nurses and para medical staff appreciated the Army's quick response as blood stocks are urgently needed in Mullaittivu & Anuradhapura Hospitals.
