More than 100 Disable Youngsters Entertained in 'Dream Cricket Day'


More than 100 physically handicapped children belonging to families in Kilinochchi, had the rare chance of enjoying a day, filled with cricket playing, merry-making events, donation of T-shirts, bags, bats, cricket balls, caps and medals to children on Thursday (4) at the play ground near the Nelumpiyasa auditorium at Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN).

Colombo Rotary Club, Chennai Rotary Club, Sunset Chennai and Bradman Foundation of Australia provided sponsorship to the event with the coordination done by Mr K Kandaraja and Mr Vivekananda Premakumar of Kilinochchi Family Rehabilitation Centre.

Those disable children and youngsters, together with their parents, teachers and instructors at respective homes for the disable enjoyed the arrangement, named as ‘Dream Cricket Day’.

Different games as well as fun-making events entertained those children and youngsters from morning till late evening. Organizers provided them with meals, refreshments and other requirements to the participants with the support of the troops of the 57 Division at Kilinochchi.

General Officer Commanding, 57 Division, senior officers and leading citizens attended the event that went on from 9.00 a.m. till 4.00 p.m.

SFHQ-KLN on the directions of Major General Sudantha Ranasinghe, Commander, SFHQ-KLN extended its cooperation to the event.
